Description
HistoriCorps is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works through partnerships to mobilize volunteers to save and sustain our nation’s special places while providing educational and outdoor experiences. We are based in the Rocky Mountain region and from there are able to coordinate and instruct projects throughout the United States.
Founded in 2009, HistoriCorps has worked in 17 states to preserve over 135 historic buildings and structures, none of which would have been possible without the generous contribution of over 40,000 volunteer hours - all thanks to terrific volunteers like you!
Volunteers learn preservation trades skills in some of America's most spectacularly beautiful places, including roof repair and replacement, masonry repointing and repair, log restoration and reconstruction, door and window restoration and much more. While most of our projects do not require any previous work experience, others are designed for the intermediate tradesman looking to learn a new skill. Our projects are located in historic and unique places on public lands. Some projects are backcountry and require hiking or horsepacking to get crews and supplies to the site, while other projects are drive-up accessible. Some sites need basic stabilization or painting, while others need an entire summer to be rehabilitated. What all the projects have in common is the opportunity for dedicated volunteers to make a tangible and positive difference in the future of threatened historic resources.
