Mission Statement

Baltimore City Teen Court seeks to build better communities one teen at a time.

Description

Baltimore City Teen Court serves as a diversion program for juvenile offenders with less than four priors charged with less serious crimes. Teenage volunteers serve in actual court cases as student attorneys, bailiffs, court clerks and jurors. Using a Positive Peer Influence model, the program positively redirects youth offenders into pro-social, acceptable behaviors. In addition to providing an invaluable service to the City of Baltimore, the Teen Court program promotes law-related education and leadership skills to Baltimore City youth who are striving to make a positive impact in their schools and communities. Baltimore City Teen Court is a program dedicated to success; both for offenders and volunteers. Over the past six years, 100% of the Teen Court volunteers remain arrest free and maintain a 0% school dropout rate. We are confident that the accomplishments of participating youth will grow as the program expands.
