Mission Statement

DCCADV's mission is two-fold: 1) to eradicate all types of relationship violence including: domestic violence, spousal rape, sexual assault, stalking, mental and emotional abuse, and acquaintance rape through the coordinated mobilization of efforts to effect systemic social change; and 2) to build a city wide response in the District and surrounding jurisdictions in partnership with the community, providers, and concerned others to more effectively ensure the safety, security, and justice needs of those living with violence and abuse. DCCADV pursues these goals through its focus on advocacy, direct services, public education, public policy, technical assistance and training, resources and research.

I have witnessed domestic violence for over 20 years in my own family. i have suffered the consequences of emotional and witnessed physical abuse. As a result, i have not only become convinced in the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence, its psychological and physical impact on victims. I have defined my career goals as a clinical psychologist in order to help treat victims of violence.
