Mission Statement

Our Mission at the Library Foundation is two-fold: to support the St. Louis Public Library's programs and services by fundraising and building relationships with others who share a passion for the Library's work; and to conduct a major capital campaign to support the complete renovation and modernization of Central Library--created by American architect Cass Gilbert and built in 1912.

Description

The St. Louis Public Library Foundation is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered with the IRS and the State of Missouri. All donations to the Foundation are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law. First organized by the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Public Library in 1989, the Foundation was reorganized in 2003 and given the charge to increase private-sector support to benefit the growing needs of the Library. In addition, the Foundation operates the Library's membership program, the Friends of the St. Louis Public Library.
