Mission Statement

The Berkeley Community Fund was formed in 1992. For the long-term well being of the community the Fund is committed to narrowing inequities within our community, creating hope and opportunity for youth, and enhancing cultural and intellectual diversity.

Description

The Fund plays a vital role, particularly in the Berkeley community, in granting funds to non-profits providing vital services to those Berkeley residents who have the least. The Fund also plays a role in convening and facilitating groups, becoming a catalyst for the leveraging of scarce public and private resources. The Fund is the convener for the Before and After School Action Team, as well as sits on several advisory boards and councils on homelessness and mentorship programs. The Berkeley Community Fund looks critically at issues and trends affecting the Berkeley community to better inform in the grantmaking process.
