Description

So may we introduce the Veterans Helping Veterans Foundation, Inc., started by a group of retired Vietnam combat veterans. This all volunteer charitable organization was formed for the sole purpose of improving the lives of the unfortunate veterans in the Pompano Beach area of Florida. We accomplish this by assembling WE CARE packages that contain: new donated tee shirts, underwear, socks, toothpaste, toothbrush, combs and a $5 meal coupon. Then we (the directors/officers) and our volunteers distribute WE CARE packages to local unfortunate veterans on a regular weekly basis at the many fast food restaurants that the veterans call home. Many of these veterans seemed to have slipped between the cracks of all the agencies available to help them. We offer faith, counseling on educational needs, job opportunities & VA benefits. The most important thing is encouragement and that WE CARE.

All of our volunteer counselors and some of our directors have had "hands on" life experience with homelessness, (PTSD) and or substance abuse and are today leading very productive lives.

Because I watch my husband suffer everyday with severe PTSD due to the Military and the fact he just recently tried to commit suicide last week and my best someone can help him as well as well can help them.
