Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our mission is to provide highly skilled assistance dogs to people with disabilities, to provide continuing education to working assistance dog teams, and to be a resource in the community for people with disabilities.
Power Paws Assistance Dogs raises, trains and places assistance dogs to people with mobility impairments, Type 1 Diabetes and PTSD. Dogs are trained over a two year period. But each pup serves the community during training in:
- Camps (Spring, Summer and Winter) for kids ages 10-17.
- Reading, Literacy and Lifeskills for at risk title 1 students in schools (Scottsdale, Tempe and Phoenix)
- Super Puppy -- Veterans help with the socialization of new pups as part of their therapy for substance abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
We need more volunteers to help with each program. Each year our Reading program grows and now we have request to serve (5) school with over 3,000 students.
