to train, mentor, inspire and empower full-figured women pursuing careers in the performing arts;
to promote size acceptance while educating and encouraging members toward healthier life choices and habits;
to provide performance showcase opportunities in a wide spectrum of artistic genres;
to foster relationships with like-minded performing arts, wellness and women's empowerment organizations across the country.
The purpose of the ThYck Troupe Organization is to serve as a catalyst for change in the lives of plus size participants, and to produce performances which serve as a source of entertainment and inspiration for the community at large.
Whether from the performing arts lecturing series or from the inspiring live performances in art exhibitions, concert stages, spoken word events or dance performances, the community benefits greatly from the positive messages inherent in performance art.
Plus Size artists need the experience of holding their heads high, projecting their personalities, highlighting their understated grace and moving their bodies for increased fitness and flexibility.
They also benefit from safe but challenging social interaction where there are no judgments of physical size, ethnicity or socio economic levels. Participants are challenged to personal excellence, and many are asked to reexamine their own opinions of how much effort is demanded to produce quality results.
The classes are ongoing and are offered at no cost to those who volunteer their time towards the organization. Participants of this program are often mainstreamed into the ThYck Troupe Performance Company.
