Mission Statement

TBI is an international partnership founded in 1990 to achieve excellence in watershed management towards the preservation of mountain lake watersheds around the world through the creation and support of innovative, multi-disciplinary watershed-based education, leadership and partnership development, international exchange, and science-based research.

2005 Summer Environmental Exchange in Siberia and the Sierra Nevada à · Visit Lake Baikal in Russia, and Lake Tahoe in California and Nevada à · Live and work with a group of young environmentalists from the USA, Russia, and other countries à · Explore connections between diverse topics in watershed management including ecology, limnology, environmental restoration and planning, public policy, resource economics, and cultural preservation à · Gain research and fieldwork experience led by experts from agencies, organizations, and academic institutions such as the California Tahoe Conservancy, University of Californiaâ  Davis, University of Nevadaâ  Reno, and Tahoe Rim Trail Association at Tahoe; and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Irkutsk State University, and Great Baikal Trail Association at Baikal TBI invites applications from undergraduate and graduate students, young professionals, and others with a demonstrated interest in environmental careers and a background in a relevant field such as Russian studies, environmental studies, geography, resource economics, sociology, environmental engineering, political science, physical or life sciences, restoration work, or environmental activism. Dates: Approximately 10 weeks, mid-June to late August 2005. Cost: Program fee is subsidized. In addition, an education award and/or academic credit may be available.
