Mission Statement

Marin Agricultural Land Trust is a private, member-supported, nonprofit organization created in 1980 by a coalition of local ranchers and environmentalists to permanently preserve Marin County farmlands for agricultural use. MALT eliminates the development potential on farmland through the acquisition of conservation easements in voluntary transactions with landowners. MALT also encourages public policies that support agriculture and promotes public awareness of its importance. As the first land trust of its kind, MALT is a model for communities across the nation, preserving over 35,000 acres on 53 family farms and ranches.

Description

Marin Agricultural Land Trust volunteers are actively involved in helping the organization to reach thousands of people in the Bay Area with our message. We endeavor to educate and connect as many people as possible with Marin County Agricultural Land because people protect what they love and are aware of. Volunteers help with public outreach, tours on ranches, talks, special events, and office projects.
