Mission Statement

In response to God's love shown to us through Jesus Christ, Lockport CARES opens its doors to women, men, and families with children who find themselves in need by providing emergency shelter, material needs, and compassionate care with dignity and respect.

Description

Lockport Community Action Response Emergency Shelter (CARES), Inc. is a not-for-profit emergency shelter designed to house up to 12 adults and children. Lockport CARES is a faith-based, New York not-for-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) charitable organization under the Internal Revenue Code. Its primary purpose is to provide crisis shelter and meals to men, women and families with children, primarily by maintaining and operating a homeless shelter in the city of Lockport, New York.

Through an entirely volunteer staff fulfilling various roles, we aim to replace despair with hope. We accomplish this by providing to our clients; clean and safe housing in our shelter, three meals a day, personal hygiene items, laundry service, emergency clothing and Prayer, encouragement and modeling of a life transformed by Jesus Christ. Through their stay at the shelter they are encourage and guided to find long-term housing and employment through local area employers and agencies.
