DC Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness in the nation's capital by building affordable, energy efficient homes with God's people in need.

Description

DC Habitat is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds affordable homes in Washington, DC, in partnership with low-income residents. Homeowner candidates purchase DC Habitat homes through 300 hours of sweat equity and no-profit, no-interest mortgages. Houses are built with volunteer labor, donated materials, and financial contributions from individuals, churches, corporations, foundations, and other groups. DC Habitat is one of approximately 2,100 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International.
