ReStore Elgin is a resale store of new and gently used Furniture, Home Accessories, Appliances and Building Materials with all proceeds going to fund Habitat for Humanity in our area. Volunteers are needed to support all of the reselling efforts to increase these proceeds . Volunteer tasks are focused on our mission to make sure that "Everybody deserves a decent place to live!" Shifts: Serve as little as every other week for 3 to 4 hours. Training: "NEW TO RESTORE ORIENTATION" via Zoom will give you all you need to know to get started. On your 1 st day you work with Volunteer Mentor. Court ordered Community Service: ReStore accepts those individuals that need to complete 30 hours or more.

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley looks forward to once again hosting new volunteers. We cannot fulfill our mission of providing safety, security and self reliance through shelter without our volunteers. Locations - various sites in Western Cook and Kane Couunty Skill Requirement: No specific skills are needed except a willingness to learn. Each build site has an assigned Project Director. The Project Director will direct the day’s work and provide necessary instruction. Additional assistance from an experienced, regular volunteer Crew Leader will be on-site to teach you every step of the way. Age Requirement: To help ensure a safe work environment, construction volunteers must legally be at least 16 years old. Teens 16 and 17 may work on a construction site with parental supervision. Those volunteers under 18 must not use power tools, climb ladders, or work on scaffolding or the roof. Release of Liability: Each volunteer must sign a E Release and Liability Waiver of Liability prior to volunteering. Signing the online waiver is an agreement for taking personal responsibility for any accident or injury on the work site. Volunteers aged 16 or 17 must have a parent or guardian sign a Minor Release and E Waiver of Liability. Sample Work Day Schedule: 8:15am -- Volunteer Safety and Orientation 8:30am -- Begin Working 12:00pm -- Lunch Break 1:00pm -- Resume Working 3:30pm -- Clean-Up 4:00pm -- End of Work Day Interested volunteers should attend a volunteer orientation. Orientations are held Saturday mornings from 10-11 am at our ReStores in Elgin and Arlington Hts. Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes, by advocating for fair and just housing policies, and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Description
Using volunteer labor, we build mostly new homes. We also do some restoration and rehab work. We also fund three home preservation programs. They are A Brush with Kindness, Critical Home Repair and Aging in Place.
