Mission Statement

Denver Adaptive Recreation is assisting the Society of Disabilities Studies in recruiting volunteers for the 2012 conference in Denver.

The Society of Disability Studies (SDS) is an international scholarly organization that is dedicated to the cause of promoting disability studies as an academic discipline. Through research, artistic production, teaching and activism, SDS seeks to augment understanding of disability in all cultures and historical periods, to promote greater awareness of the experiences of disabled people, and to advocate for social change.

The convention give participants from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds an opportunity to share their latest research, theories and experiences on disabilities as a social movement. The convention offers 60 workshops, informal discussions and lively entertainment for 400-500 participants from all parts of the globe an opportunity for a productive and enjoyable experience.
