Mission Statement
In partnership with families and professionals from many disciplines, the Institute for Family-Centered Care promotes the understanding and practice of family-centered care. The Institute seeks to ensure that principles of family-centered care are reflected in all systems providing care and support to individuals and families including health, education, mental health, and social services. The Institute will accomplish its mission through: consultation, training, and technical assistance; materials development and information dissemination; and research and public policy initiatives.
Description
The Institute envisiosn a profound change in the way care and support are provided to individuals and their families in North America. In every encounter, human service professionals will seek to strengthen families, building their confidence and competence. The service delivery system will recognize and encourage strengths, choice, and independence.
