Mission Statement

PEC Hospice mission is to provide the terminally ill patient and their loved ones with the support and care they require to live their lives comfortably. Our hospice team strives to enable the patient and family to maintain dignity and quality of life. The focus on patient perceived needs allows control to remain with the patient. In providing care to persons with a limited life expectancy, hospice neither attempts to prolong life nor to hasten death.

Description

Hospice is a "Philosophy of Caring" for dying patients and their families. It recognizes that death is part of the human life cycle and that every person has the right to die with dignity, peace, and comfort. Hospice neither postpones nor hastens death, it exists so that patients and their families might be free to attain a measure of mental and spiritual readiness for death that is satisfactory to them. Bereavement follow-up is also part of the hospice program.

Volunteering with PEC has been a life-changing experience. The staff are amazing and the services and care they provide to their patients are one-of-a-kind. It is amazing to see how the staff's passion for what they do reflects in the care they provide to their patients. I would definitely recommend anybody who enjoys working with people and wants to impact lives to volunteer for PEC.

This has been such a wonderful experience volunteering at PEC. Everyone is so wonderful and the staff love what they do and it shows. Working directly with the patient's is an amazing experience. It was a satisfying feeling knowing that at the end of the day you are making a difference in someone else's life. If anyone has extra time on their hands i highly recommend volunteering here!
