Cathedral Community Cares operates direct outreach service programs and advocacy campaigns aimed at alleviating poverty by targeting homelessness and hunger. Our approach is to combat these problems by addressing the immediate and beyond emergency needs while also seeking long-term solutions.

CATHEDRAL COMMUNITY CARES (CCC)

PROGRAMS

  • The Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center offers periodic health screenings in such areas as diabetes, hypertension, mammogram pre-screening, and a host of other health issues. Rapid HIV testing is offered monthly during Sunday Soup Kitchen hours. Please visit the CCC page of the Cathedral website or call 212-316-7581 for more information.
  • The Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing through the Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center. In addition, the program also provides appropriate clothing for individuals returning to the workforce. Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search. Tuesday & Thursday, 10:00am-1:00pm
  • Food Stamp Program provides pre-screening for those interested in food stamps, certification, and recertification for current food stamp recipients. CCC partners with the New York City Coalition Against Hunger, the Food Bank for New York City, and Columbia University Community Impact to offer this service. Please call 212-316-7583 to set up an appointment. Monday, Wednesday, Friday by appointment

  • Sunday Soup Kitchen provides breakfast, a hot, sit-down lunch and a take-home bagged supper each Sunday. CCC staff and trained volunteers provide information and referrals to other crucial services, such as food stamps, legal services, housing information, substance abuse programs, and more.
