Mission Statement

What Is CatNIP?

We’re a no-kill, all-volunteer cat rescue and adoption group. We were formed and incorporated in late October of 2006 and approved as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization by the federal government in January of 2007.

Is CatNIP new?

As an organization, we are. However, nearly all of our directors and volunteers have extensive experience with at least one other rescue and placement group. So, in terms of our collective rescue experience, we are far from new.

Why did CatNIP form?

CatNIP’s founders felt the need to start a small new group. Our philosophy behind this is that we felt it was important to be able to devote more individual attention to each animal and to be readily available to our adopters. We place heavy emphasis on proper veterinary care.

So, is CatNIP just a smaller rescue?

NO!!! CatNIP is much more than that. "CatNIP" stands for Cat Nurturing, Information & Placement. We nurture sick &/or injured cats & kittens back to health. We socialize those who have been abused. We provide information to potential adopters and others. All adopters are given a folder that contains information about their cat, adoption tips and CatNIP volunteer contacts for support. Our pets are adopted into carefully screened, loving homes. That’s the happy ending ... placement: Matching up cats and families to ensure a life-long bond. These are our primary goals.
