Mission Statement
The AARP SCSEP is in the business of improving the quality of life for low-income seniors by assisting them to subsidized training and assisting them in their search for unsubsidized jobs in theit community. We are the stewards of federal funds appropriated to recruit, train and place eligible persons in unsubsidized employment. Our success adds directly to the economic vitality of the communities in which we work by providing a source for dedicated, trained ,mature workers. A corollary benefit is the partnerships we form with public, non-profit host agencies that provide a shot-term training environment for each of our enrollees, and in return, recieve a temporary supplement to their staff at no cost. This partnership provides our community with millions of hours of service annually that would not otherwise be available.
Description
Through the AARP Foundation SCSEP office, enrolled individuals are placed in community service educational organizations for training to prepare them to be job ready. Our office reaches out to the employers in the community to access employment opportunities for our enrollees.
