Mission Statement

The Community Clothes Closet (CCC) provides free clothing to financially challenged individuals and families. We help people in two ways- we give them free clothing which then in turn increases their immediate income. They can then spend their limited income on the other necessities of life such as food, shelter, child care, and health improvement.

Description

St. John United Church of Christ (UCC) has been in the east side neighborhood of Aurora for 125 years.

St. John UCC seeks to live out its Christian mission in real, tangible, and compassionate service. We take seriously Jesus’ commandment "to love your neighbor as yourself" and joyfully respond to God’s call to discipleship. We do this in a number of ways.

The CCC was started because our other outreach programs-- Diabetic Foot Clinic, Family Christmas Giving, Mesa de Maria Cooking Classes, Peace Players Summer Arts Camp, and regular emergency help for individuals--have been so successful, resulting in solid relational ties with generous families, individuals, and organizations.

Under the direction of the church council, the pastor, two part-time staff, and volunteers, the CCC will distribute clothes based on donor generosity.
