Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Opportunity Inc.'s mission is to become a reliable regional/national developer of affordable housing, to advocate strategies and methodology to eliminate barriers to homeownership and workforce development, and to advance the livelihoods of families within the communities we serve. Homeownership and workforce development are critical building blocks of a community, encouraging and empowering wealth, pride and prosperity. Since 1989, Opportunity Inc. has provided highly effective education and training programs and has served over 3,000 youth and adults as well as developed 50 units of affordable housing throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania.
CHANCE Home Preservation and REO Affordable Housing Program's objective is to recruit and educate 300 low and moderate income individuals including Veterans in our targeted areas on the benefits of homeownership and purchasing REO's as their first home through traditional methods or with lease with the option to own through our TAZE Property Maintenance and Management division.
With reduce home values interest has grown among new buyers that were previously shut out of the market and with local down payment assistance programs and new federal tax credits homeownership is within reach for low-to-moderate income buyers even in higher property cost neighborhoods. Developing REO properties helps local, state and national government authorities with their community revitalization efforts as well.
In conjunction with the REO program we will continue working with families that are facing foreclosure. The goal of CHANCE Home Preservation Mortgage Assistance and Foreclosure Prevention is to identify over 300 borrowers, provide interim assistance and counseling to those who are delinquent on their mortgage or facing foreclosure and to help 60% or more avoid foreclosure through loss mitigation efforts, loan workouts, refinancing, loan modifications and repayment plans. If foreclosure is unavoidable CHANCE Home Preservation will assist the lender in preserving the vacant property to maintain neighborhood viability.
