Description

Mend Maddie's Heart Corp was founded by Cynthia Sattal and Lorraine Gettis, grandmothers to Madilyn Gettis. Maddie was born on June 29th, 2010 with only 1/2 a heart, a condition known as Tricuspid Atresia and Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome. Maddie has survived 3 open heart surgeries and will require additional medical/surgical intervention as she grows. There are 35 know congenital heart defects and Maddie was born with 5 of them. Approximately 1 in 100 children are born with some type of CHD.

Maddie's surgeries and travels so far have been covered in full by her fathers Military insurance. Maddie's family decided to reach out and help fellow heart families that are not as fortunate. Maddie is their inspiration!

Mend Maddie's Heart has been able to help heart families with hospital travel costs. presciption medicine, utility bills, medical equipment, clothing and toys. In 2011 a school supply program was successful and over 250 heart children and their siblings received back packs filled with school supplies. Sadly, we have also helped families bury their children. All of this, so far, has been possible by various fundraisers held and by the generousity of some very wonderful people.
