Mission Statement
Our mission is to engage and educate underserved youth by developing self-expression, academic, life and job skills through the inspiring and collaborative process of creating digital communication and media arts. Through these experiences, youth have opportunities to have their voices heard, while building literacy, critical thinking and vocational skills. Youth work in teams, gaining understanding and appreciation of their peers.

Description
The Big Picture Alliance is committed to providing engaging arts learning opportunities to youth within the concentration of film/video and media literacy. Our programs take place afterschool, summer and winter break tracks and as artist residencies within classrooms.
Youth work both individually and in teams, offering opportunity to build self-discipline and confidence. Our programs offer youth outlets for self-expression while building writing & critical thinking skills, media literacy and understanding and technical/prodyction literacy (camera operation, sound, lighting, editing,marketing).
For some our program is the doorway through which they launch a career in film or digital media.
Apprenticeships: The BPA operates part-time as a production house providing affordable, professional production services to other non-profits. Students who have proven themselves in BPA educational programs often have an opportunity to work as interns on these productions to simultaneously develop their skill and knowledge in the field and begin to develop a resume and reel.
