Mission Statement
To provide home horticulture training through University of California Cooperative Extension to adults residing in San Bernardino County who, in turn, provide information to county residents via phone and email hotlines, public service fairs, community and school garden networks, and to homeowners interested in water-efficient sustainable landscaping practices.
Description
University of California Cooperative Extension academics provide objective research-based information in all areas of agriculture to those employed in commercial agriculture and horticulture. Information on home-horticulture is provided to backyard gardeners by trained volunteer Master Gardeners who successfully complete 50 hours of training covering all aspects of home horticulture (vegetable gardening, sustainable landscaping, fruit tree care, garden pests, soils and irrigation, etc.). Master Garadeners are required to provide at least 50 hours of service back into the community over a one year period following their own training.
