Mission Statement

Fight Hunger: Feed Hope. God's Hands Food Pantry strives to bring together community resources to feed the residents of Jessamine County who are in need.

Description

Elderly, disabled, and individuals in crises utilize this service to get much needed food including fresh produce, dairy products, meats, and whole grains. Clients may come once a month to select food from God’s Hands Food Pantry, at no cost to them. Clients living on fixed incomes are able to save their scarce dollars for other necessities like housing, utilities or medical payments.

God’s Hands Food Pantry was started in 2010 to address hunger in our city. We started our endeavor through extreme couponing and helping those who we came in contact with that needed help. This vision grew as we learned of the extreme need in our community and the lack of available resources. On October 3, 2011, we officially opened our doors to the community.

In the first six months of operation, we provided 112,173 pounds of food to people in need and are continuing to grow daily. We distribute food to single-parent families, the working poor, senior citizens, youth in crisis, the disabled and the homeless.

God’s Hands Food Pantry provides food to those at risk for hunger. Our primary focus is that clients will receive free, nutritious food. Clients receive nutritious food which increases food security and reduce long-term detrimental health problems.
