The Asian Heritage Society is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Asian American achievement of past generations and helping the coming generation to prepare for technological and global changes taking place. The annual Asian Heritage Awards is the venue to celebrate Asian American ahievement and the Society's BOOSTEM program employs three-day workshops to prepare middle school female students of Asian descent to capitalize on opportunities in STEM-based fields and to succeed as business leaders. The Asian Heritage Society also sponsors seminars and meetings focusing on political awareness, health issues and careers. The Society has received Congressional recognition from all five U.S. representatives from the district for its community leadership and was twice honored for its public service by the San Diego Press Club. In 2013, its founders, Rosalynn Carmen and Leonard Novarro, were honored by the City of San Diego Human Relations Commission for their work in brinnging together the widely diverse ethnicites that make up the Asian community of San Diego and for "exceptional insight in enhancing the understanding and relationship-building across the many ethnic and identity groups in San Diego."
