Partnership with the City of Oxnard's RSVP Program in collaboration with Shop Ahoy proudly offers unique volunteer opportunities specifically designed for individuals aged 55 and older. This partnership allows volunteers to make a significant impact in the community by assisting seniors who can cook but are unable to drive to the grocery store or face disabilities that hinder their ability to shop. Volunteer Opportunities Include: Calling participants to take their grocery orders. Shopping with other volunteers at local grocery stores once a week. Delivering groceries using their own vehicles. Our Operations Operating from locations across the county-Camarillo, Ventura, and Oxnard-volunteers connect with customers weekly to manage individual orders, complete the shopping, and handle deliveries. The involvement of our volunteers is vital in assist approximately 150 seniors and are continually working to expand our services. Join Us in volunteering with the City of Oxnard's RSVP program where you can significantly impact the community and forge lasting relationships through meaningful interactions with fellow volunteers and the seniors we assist. This opportunity lets you build special bonds of trust and friendship with those you help, dedicating 2 to 4 hours weekly. Looking to improve your health while helping others? Want to make new friends while making a difference? The award-winning RSVP Bone Builders program is an osteoporosis exercise and education program with a strong emphasis on the social and fun side of working out. Must be 55 years or older to join the fun. As a Volunteer Instructor, you will lead twice-weekly exercise classes (about an hour each time) that use light weights and exercises that are performed either sitting or standing next to a chair. Volunteer Instructors co-teach with a partner, allowing flexibility for vacation and personal days. Class size is small. Participants are typically seniors, age 55 and older. Classes are free, noncompetitive and designed to improve muscle strength, balance and bone density. Training includes visiting at least two of the existing 22 classes in west Ventura County, attending a 6-hour training class (held quarterly) and then returning to observe three more classes. Instructors are also asked to attend quarterly in-service trainings where up-to-date information is provided. ***BILINGUAL INSTRUCTORS NEEDED***
