Mission Statement

Are you or is someone you love lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender? For the last 30 years, when someone you love has come out of the lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender(LGBT) closet, PFLAG has been there to support the parents and families. We support and educate so that the family can adjust to the news and stay in a loving relationship. We advocate in schools with our Safe Schools program, against bullying and discrimination. We currently hold monthly meetings in Atlanta, Marietta, Peachtree City, Johns Creek and Spalding County.

Description

PFLAG Atlanta is one of 400 chapters worldwide that support parents and families of LGBTQ people when their children come out. Founded in 1972 with the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization. Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality and full societal affirmation of LGBTQ people through its threefold mission of support, education, and advocacy. PFLAG has over 400 chapters and 200,000 members and supporters crossing multiple generations of American families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas in all 50 states.
