Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
We are working to improve the living conditions of the local people, focusing on education, health and sanitation, the provision of clean water and sustainable enterprise.
We began by funding a primary school on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and have extended our activities to include building and running 4 nursery schools, renovating 4 primary schools, establishing a special needs education centre where 70 children board, installing over 50 water harvesting tanks in the community and are building a clinic on Bwama Island at Lake Bunyonyi.
We support sustainable projects for local communities - craft making, bee-keeping, vegetable gardens and orchards - as we believe in a "hand up" not a "hand out".
If you want to work on projects that benefit communities and work towards sustainable development then volunteering with Edirisa UK is for you.
Through our volunteer programme we run workshops in the primary schools and nurseries, supporting the teachers and improving the learning environment. Volunteers also take part in community focus groups and a variety of other activities.
You can work at our Special Needs Education Centre, Nursery & Primary Schools, on Building Renovation, Library Initiatives, Craft Workshops and much more. Projects are dependent on the location that you choose. You can find out more about volunteer activities on our Volunteer pages on our website http://www.edirisa.org.uk/Volunteering.html
With Edirisa UK you will get the chance to work in the beautiful, lush, green countryside of Uganda with local Ugandans as well as with other international volunteers.
Perhaps you’ll choose to visit some of Uganda’s game parks during your stay? Or canoe around the stunning Lake Bunyonyi? Whatever you choose to do we’re sure you’ll develop a passion for Uganda that will make you want to come back again and again.
