The Volunteer Corps implements City volunteer programs to assist City departments in enhancing their goals through volunteerism to better serve the people of Los Angeles, and to establish and maintain good-working relationships with Los Angeles communities and business through volunteerism.
The Mayor's Volunteer Corps implements City volunteer programs that empower City departments to enhance their goals through volunteerism to better serve the people of Los Angeles. The Citywide Volunteer Programs works with over 80 City departments helping to assist them with volunteer recruitment and management. The program maintains the citywide volunteer database that currently holds over 20,000 active volunteers in various departments citywide. It administers the Volunteer insurance policy, recruits potential volunteers for City departments, provides trainings on volunteer management to department volunteer coordinators, oversees and manages the Los Angelenos City Hall Tour Docents Group, recruits and manages volunteers for one-day city sponsored special events and maintains a website listing volunteer opportunities within city government. The Citywide Volunteer programs provides unpaid internships to local college and high school students and also international students offering them hands-on experience within fields of their interest and also serves as a link between corporate employee volunteer teams who are looking for community service projects in the Los Angeles City area.
