Our mission is to teach individuals to stand up, speak out and act courageously in challenging situations.
Description
HIP was founded by renowned psychologist, Dr. Philip Zimbardo. Best known for the Stanford Prison Experiment and as an expert witness on Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse, Dr. Zimbardo brings a lifetime of research into how social situations exert power over individuals and how "systems" in turn influence situations. Dr. Zimbardo, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Stanford University, and past president of the APA and the WPA, currently serves as President of HIP.
The Heroic Imagination Projecttrains people to overcome the natural human tendency to watch and wait in moments of crisis; teaches individuals how to stand up, speak out and act with moral courage when the situation demands; provides young people with strategies to act with character and courage to resist bullying, peer pressure and indifference; and runs corporate programs that foster and reinforce cultures of integrity.
