Mission Statement

Because every child holds unique promise, we envision a day when every child has ready access to those after-school programs that help them realize their promise, no matter their needs or circumstances. Today, that is not the case. Way too many of these promising youth receive little or no after-school supervision or care.

Description

Promising Youth Alliance is a "cornerstone" model for bringing excellent after-school care to the hundreds of thousands of youth who basically receive none. Three of the country’s most successful providers of youth development services comprise the cornerstone: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, Phoenix Houses of Texas, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. PYA is conceived to be replicated across the country, but always by the local community for the community’s unique needs. In that respect, PYA is more than a model, more than an entity; it is a movement for superior after-school care.
