Mission Statement

Talent and Development for kids mission is dedicated to helping foster kids and offering an outreach where they can consistently develop and maintain a fitness lifestyle, healthy nutrition and learn to Believe, Achieve and Succeed.

Talent and Development for kids is a non-profit organization that provides foster kids ages 9-14 and opportunity to exercise and learn the importance of eating healthy nutritious foods. T.A.D. kids program is committed to motivating, building character and instilling values to help promote the well being of foster children.
T.A. D. kids program is a year round program with a total of 30 pre-selected kids from local foster homes in the Northeast Charlotte area. Our Fitness Fun Day involves a host of outdoor activities such as a bike ride, relays, volleyball, basketball, and more. Each T.A.D. kid selected participates in the Fitness Fun Day and receive a gift basket filled with goodies Prizes will be awarded to those that place in the selected relay games. There is fun for the entire family. So come out and enjoy the games, relays and some delicious Barbecue. Pre-registration is required.
T.A.D.kids learn to Believe, Achieve and Succeed through our fitness and health program and with the help of volunteers that reach out to a T.A.D. kid by mentoring, becoming a lunch buddy. Each month a calendar of events is scheduled and consist of the following, 1) Fitness Fun Day, 2) Pizza and Movie night, 3) Community Service ? opt 1- visit the local hospital?s children?s unit and play games. Opt 2- visit Nursing Home Residents
T.A.D.kids Fitness Fun Day is every 4 th Saturday each month from 10am-2pm. Our calendar Fun Days for 2006: Feb.25, March25, April 22, May 27, June 24, July22, Aug. 11(end of summer bash), Sept. 23, Oct. 28. It is open to the general public and each T.A.D.Fitness Fun Day is loaded with lots of exercise, and pamplets that offer health and nutrition awareness.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services? Children?s Bureau estimates that there are approximately 126,000 waiting children (foster kids) in our country. Of these number?s approximately 10,112 of these children are in the custody of Mecklenburg county's Department of Social Services because of abuse, neglect, or because their parents voluntarily placed them for adoption.
Talent and Development for kids fills it an honor to provide a positive outlet where these children are able to find a sense of fulfillment as a T.A.D.kid. Currently we have about 15 T.A.D.kids and would like to triple the numbers in the future as we become more financially grounded.
T.A.D.kids Fitness Fun Day is held at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, athletic field. The bike ride extends throughout the Crater Park Community which is adjacent from the church. (Located at 6440 Old Statesville Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28269.)

Would you recommend talent and development for kids?

This is a non-existent group. Not one of the things this person claims actually happens. The telephone number is not even correct. After trying to reach this group I did some checking. I found this is a fictitious group.
