Mission Statement

Our mission is to save lives, foster a sustainable future, and vastly improve the quality of life of children and adults in African communities devastated by AIDS, life threatening diseases, and abject poverty.

Description

SHARE Africa (SHARE for short) carries out its mission through a 3-pronged approach:education, health care, and economic sustainability.

SHARE’s projects are focused on Kenya’s Nyanza province; a region in critical need of help due to its extremely high incidence of AIDS, abject poverty, geographical remoteness, and lack of health care infrastructure. We carry out our mission though a variety of projects, including these long term programs:

  1. SHARE Orphan Sponsorship (SOS) program: provides schooling, boarding, health care, and social care to children orphaned by AIDS. Through the generosity of individual sponsors, children receive quality education, healthy living, and an opportunity for a productive adult life.
  2. Emergency Medical Services program: trains Kenyan medics, and carries out other public health and environmental initiatives.
  3. Healthcare initiatives, including health and nutritional education and provision of medical and psychosocial training and services by visiting U.S. physicians and other allied healthcare workers in Nyanza province, where there is only 1 local doctor for every 100,000 people.
  4. Women’s Empowerment program: creates sustainable opportunities for women through micro-economic projects based on solar ovens, tea farms, and sewing machines.
