Mission Statement

The Captain Palmer House provides a glimpse into the life and times of Captain Palmer, his contributions to the rise of America as a maritime nation and his discovery of the continent of Antarctica. The house and grounds reflect the successes and interests of 1 of the 6 founding familes of Stonington, CT. Through interpretative exhibits, authentic materials and changing exhibitions the Palmer House will provide a unique taste of life as it was lived in the 19th century.

Captain Palmer House is a national historic landmark home of the discoverer of the continent of antarctica and the inventor of the clipper ship.
