Mission Statement

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Description

There is a place for everyone in our organization.

The sports-minded can find a place as a dedicated coach. The business person can lend their talent as an event organizer. The retiree can offer support as a coordinator, and the student may want to invest their enthusiasm into a competition event. All of our programs need a full complement of talents and skills.

Whether you're a coach, official, committee member or assistant at a competition, you'll experience the way sports should be. Special Olympics athletes are excited to play, respectful of players and officials, and devoted to their coaches. With your time, energy and enthusiasm, you can help our athletes be great. You can get involved by volunteering just a few hours of your time at a specific event, or for several weeks, during a season as a coach. Or you can help with local and community program administration. Volunteering for Special Olympics can create lifelong friendships and rewards of immeasurable value
