Mission Statement

One Home Many Hopes finds, rescues, houses, loves and educates orphaned and abandoned girls in Mtwapa, Kenya and equips them to be the future agents of change in their community.

Our goal is not to house every orphan in Kenya to a point where they can subsist. Our goal is to house those who need us most and to raise and educate a group of children with the ability and desire to change the system that keeps them and other children in an endless cycle of poverty.

Description

OHMH was founded in 2007 in Boston and now has chapters in Boston, New York City, Washington, DC., San Francisco, London, and Belfast.

OHMH supports a home in Mtwapa, Kenya called "Mudzini Kwetu" or "Our Home" which currently houses 37 orphaned and abandoned girls. While OHMH helps provide shelter, food and healthcare, OHMH's ultimate goal is education. Education brings change and education will empower these young women break the cycle of poverty in which they live. As a result, OHMH raised $250,000 in 2010 and $291,000 in 2011 to build an elite school that will educate 720 children in the community.

OHMH volunteers in the United States and United Kingdom fundraise, educate their communities, and raise awareness in a variety of different avenues.
