Mission Statement

The purpose of the Wytheville Training School Cultural Center,Inc. is to preserve the buildings and grounds of the historic Wytheville Training School in a manner that promotes understanding and appreciation of African American education in Wythe County during the 19th and mid 20th centureis and to utilize thes facilities to provide education and cultural opportunities for citizens of all ages, races, and economic levles. The Wytheville Training School Cultural Center is a non-profit educational institutional dedicted to increasing citizen participation and access to computer and telecommunications technology and education.

Description

The Center provides free computer and Internet use and instruction. literacy services and after school enrichment programs to participants who do not have access to affordable computer use or Internet service. We are located in the Appalachian region of Virginia in Southwestern Virginia where there is a lack of a technology infrastructure and there are many cultural, educational and economic barriers for the residents of our community. We are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. but hope to expand our hours with the help of a Microsoft grant.
