Mission Statement

To provide veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness

Description

The Portland Animal Welfare Team (PAW Team) provides veterinary care to the pets of homeless people in Portland, Oregon. Each clinic session is staffed by volunteer veterinarians, veterinary technicians and other volunteers from the community. We treat nearly 70 animals at each clinic, providing free vaccines, deworming, and flea and heartworm medication to each animal. Basic health problems such as skin, ear and eye infections are also treated, and donated animal food, leashes/collars, blankets, pet sweaters and other animal supplies are distributed. We provide educational information on animal care, training and disease to the pet's caregivers, and offer coupons for low-cost spay/neuter services. We are currently working with other organizations to offer free spay/neuter services to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.
