Mission Statement

Our vision for Washington United Church of Christ is a partnership with Camp Washington to create a community that is safe and clean, where people have enough food, decent housing, opportunities for education and work, and live in an environment that nurtures all families.

Washington United Church of Christ’smission is to help make that vision reality by doing what Jesus taught - to minister together with our neighbors in ways that improve lives physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Description

Washington United Church of Christ is a worshipping congregation and a "mission church," dedicated to providing outreach ministries to our neighbors in Camp Washington and surrounding low-income neighborhoods.

Our outreach ministries include:

Camp Community Café, serving a free lunch from 12-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday to all who attend.

Camp Cupboard and Closet, located across Rachel Street from the church. This "store," where everything is free, offers food items, clothing, and household goods. It is open Tuesday and Saturday afternoons.

Homework Club, after-school tutoring, from 4:15-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Students receive a light meal before tutoring begins.

Community Meal, served one Thursday a month at 5:15 p.m. Dates vary.

Back to School, Thanksgiving andChristmas events. We collect and distribute school supplies, food, new clothes and toys, blankets and other gifts to neighborhood residents.

Summer Youth Program, a free eight-week, Monday-Thursday program for children that includes breakfast, lunch, worship, Christian education, stories, art, songs, games, recreation, loving relationships, and field trips.
