Community Coalition for Environmental Justice

Description

The Community Coalition for Environmental Justice was formed in 1993 a by a diverse group of individuals and organizations which included the Black Women's Health Project, Asian Pacific Women's Caucus, Rainbow Coalition and others. We are a people of color-led, multiethnic nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization working on social, economic and environmental health issues that disproportionately impact people of color, refugee, indigenous, immigrant, and low income communities. We have successfully organized our communities to fight polluters such as the VA Hospital's medical waste incinerator in Beacon Hill, and industry in South Park. We have conducted training on how to alleviate indoor air pollution, and advocate for action on environmental injustice issues on the city, county, and state level.
