Mission Statement

Our Mission is to provide relief, assistance, and support to Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in their search for freedom and dignity. We work to empower, equip and organize Vietnamese-American communities in their progress towards self-sufficiency and integration. We collaborate with organizations, agencies, and ethnic communities that share similar visions, goals, and values.

Description

Since 1999, BPSOS-Sacramento has provided health and family services, immigration and citizenship assistance and other community resources in the Central Valley. In addition to our programs, we provide a comprehensive referral service to meet the diverse needs of our clients and actively pursue partnerships and working relationships with various service providers in our community. In 2003, BPSOS created the Health Awareness Program for Immigrants (HAPI), which raises breast and cervical cancer awareness in the Vietnamese-American community, coordinates free cancer screenings for low-income women and provides free translation services for other health provider appointments. Our HAPI+ program works with torture survivors to increase access to available mental health services. The Community Awareness Campaign on Occupational Safety (CACOS) raises awareness of workplace safety and health issues at outreach events and community workshops. Our community technology center offers low-income clients with high speed internet access and basic computer literacy training.
