Mission Statement

The Burlington Library's ROOTS Project's mission is to provide a solid foundation of basic research skills to teens, an opportuntiy for them to apply their new skills throught the fun of researching their family history, so that they may be inspired to use their research skills in future academic and career interests.

Description

The ROOTS Project is a grant funded innovative pilot project of the Burlington Public Library. Genealogist Mentor volunteers and teens will learn Basic Research Skills through the Burlington Library and then apply those skills to researching, in teams, the teens unique family history. Genealogist volunteers will serve as guides and co-researchers with the teens.
