The Huntsville Tennessee Valley Friends AMBUCS was chartered in July2009 with National AMBUCS, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) organization, joining 125 other chapters in 21 states and 5000 diverse men and women with the mission of creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.
Huntsville Tennessee Valley Friends AMBUCS, an entirely volunteer organization, is comprised of a team of regional therapists and local business owners who have established a local AMBUCS Chapter to provide charitable intervention to children and others in the Huntsville and Tennessee Valley Region to access the AmTryke therapeutic tricycle.
EVERYBODY DESERVES TO RIDE A BIKE! The fun and freedom of riding your own bike is something everyone should be able to enjoy! Until now those with disabilities have had to sit on the sidelines while their peers and family enjoy biking. Now thanks to HUNTSVILLE TENNESSEE VALLEY AMBUCS AmTryke Program, even individuals who are unable to operate a traditional bike can finally realize this wonderful experience.
AmTrykes provide exercise, therapeutic activity, and inclusive play in a fun environment to riders of all ages!
WHAT IS AN AMTRYKE? AmTrykes are adaptive bikes on a tricycle platform that are customized to each mobility limitation, much like the rider's wheelchair. AmTrykes may be hand or foot propelled or both. Our volunteer physical therapists evaluate WishList applicants and choose the best AmTryke to fit those with Spina Bifida, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, TBI and many other mobility challenges.
Once funding has been identified WishList recipients are presented with their new bike!
