Mission Statement

Metro Parks Tacoma is Washington's first independent Park District. Founded in 1907, we create healthy opportunities to play, learn and grow by fostering active lifestyles, environmental education and natural resource stewardship, and appreciation of culture and heritage.

Description

Experience what Metro Parks Tacoma has to offer! Just visiting the iconic Point Defiance Park with the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, Owen Beach, Marina and Boat Launch, Fort Nisqually or miles of trails; or Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, WW Seymour Botanical Conservatory, the Tacoma Nature Center at Snake Lake, or Meadow Park Golf Course will help you see what a century of investment in parks can provide a community. In addition to great places to visit, MPT offers youth and adult sports, adaptive and specialized recreation, SPARX middle school after school activities, Metro Arts dance and visual arts programs, community special events and other programs and activities to meet our goals of fostering active lifestyles, appreciation of nature, and celebration of culture. It's all part of making Tacoma an active, vibrant and engaged community in which to live, work and play!
