Mission Statement

The Office of Emergency Shelter & Services (OESS) is a municipal agency in the City of Philadelphia whose mission is to help establish self-sufficiency and a return to independence amongst this city's homeless citizens.

Description

Our goal is to improve the employment marketability of the adults in the households by providing literacy, job readiness and computer access and instruction to families in shelters. We are beginning to accomplish this by putting computer labs in three of our fourteen family shelters.
