Mission Statement

LEAP for Education empowers underserved students to achieve social and economic mobility by cultivating personal, educational, and career growth. We do this by teaching students academic and life-skills needed to perform at higher levels in middle school and high school. Students also receive ongoing personalized support and community connections which helps them graduate from college and create a future based on their strengths and interests.

Description

LEAP for Education is the first North Shore organization of its kind to empower first-generation-to-college and underserved youth to graduate from college and succeed in education and life regardless of ethnicity or gender. We deliver a portfolio of innovative, academic, life skills, career and college success programs for middle school, high school and college students creating a lasting impact in our youth, their families and communities.

LEAP has a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from one-time service to longer-term commitments. We believe that all supporters are vital to the organization’s mission, and engagement helps students find success and build a stronger community.

I’ve been volunteering at LEAP in the College Success Program since 2017. Full disclosure: I’m now on the Board. This is an amazing program with amazing people who do amazing things. The rewards from helping kids get to places they would otherwise not are immense. Volunteers get almost as much out of their experiences as do the kids. There are so many programs that need an adult’s guidance and experience. Do not hesitate to get on the bandwagon. You will not regret it.

I had a wonderful experience volunteering with LEAP! They have a variety of programs to match your expertise/time commitments, and wonderful staff. I have loved getting to know LEAP students.
