Description

English for Successful Living offers high-quality, tuition-free instruction to students. All classes are taught completely in English using immersion methodology. The instructors are trained volunteers who use an established curriculum and well-respected textbooks. Classes are small with a focus on conversation and the acquisition of useful vocabulary. We require students to purchase textbooks and workbooks at a cost of $32 (which translates to roughly $1.30 per week of classes), which vests the students in the program and provides the students with the benefit of a helpful, lasting language resource. Students receive a total of three hours of instruction weekly. We offer evening and weekend classes for both student and volunteer convenience. Our calendar operates on a semester system; students and volunteer teachers enroll for a twelve-week session, and can reenroll as often as they wish (classes run all year). We offer multiple levels of instruction, from the absolute beginner level to the advanced, ensuring the most appropriate learning environment for the individual. Students are given a placement test at registration to put them into the proper level. We also provide a free childcare service during classtime for the children of our students.

I've volunteered at ESL for quite awhile now and it has been a great and rewarding experience, as well as a lot of fun!
