Children’s Fairyland sparks imagination and a desire to learn by bringing stories to life through immersive experiences. Nestled lakeside in Oakland, Children's Fairyland creates a magical world of wonder that delights visitors of all ages - especially children - through attractions, performances, animals, gardens, programming, and community partnerships.
Description
Children’s Fairyland is the country’s first storybook theme park, opening our doors in 1950. The park creates a magical world of wonder that delights visitors of all ages-especially children-boasting 40 whimsical, storybook-themed exhibits, eight acres of gardens, gentle animals, and educational programs centered on the transformative power of storytelling. In 1994, management of Children’s Fairyland transitioned from a public park to a nonprofit dedicated to Oakland children. Approximately 150,000 visitors explore the park each year.

Had a great day giving out treats to the kids! All the costumes and the fun atmosphere made for an awesome day! The staff of Fairyland was very informative and helpful. They made it fun to be there and showed their appreciation for all the volunteers. I will definitely volunteer at Fairyland again.

Full disclosure: I worked at Fairyland for over a year. My insider's perspective only bolstered my fondness for this incredible organization. The staff are just lovely and work hard to ensure that volunteers have engaging projects and feel welcome. Jackie in the horticulture department is fantastic and Jaime who is new to the animal department is making exciting changes. Highly recommend volunteering for Fairyland.
