Mission Statement

In response to God's love in Jesus Christ, Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries will demonstrate God's command to love the neighbor through acts of service. With "many hands and one heart," Diakon staff members each year touch the lives of more than 70,000 children, families, and older adults. We are proud to continue a nearly 140-year tradition of hospitality and care for people of all faiths.

Description

Our volunteers help provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery stores, or pharmacies utilizing their personal vehicles. We can offer companionship for one hour or more, just to visit and share stories. Volunteers can also assist with various minor home repairs, light housekeeping and outside chores such as replacing light bulbs, vacuuming or snow removal to facilitate safe delivery of Meals on Wheels.
